Virtual Museums - An Overview

Web presentation of an existing museum

First of all, virtual museums may be presentations on the web of museums, that already exists in the physical world. On their website, the museum can present selected works from their exhibitions, but also give access to works from their collection that are not currently on display at the museum. On the web the visitor may dive deeper into ressources and further explanations of the works presented

Example: The Danish museum of art, Ordrupgaard
An example of web presentation of a physically existing museum is the Danish museum of art, Ordrupgaard.

At the museum frontpage the visitor may find links to the actual exhibition, to works from the two main collection of Danish and French painters and to a tool of further exploration of selected pictures.

In the presentation of French painters the visitor finds further information of the works, and may jump directly to other works through the overview at the top of the page.
